Why I Left Your Blog Within 10 Seconds

Click HERE To See How I Get 25-50 Free Visitors To My Website Every Single Day and Please Subscribe to Warrior Blog by Email IF You Enjoy Our Content. Thank You.

Leave your blogI usually leave the majority of the blogs that I visit within 10 seconds of visiting it. Keep reading if you want to know how to get me and everybody else to stay just a little bit longer on your blog.

Each day I visit dozens of new blog and I also visit everyone that comment on my blog. What do I do once I visit a blog?

  1. I immediately peek at their Alexa Rank and Page Rank. I observe the amount of traffic they are getting by doing this. I have the Alexa Toolbar installed so that is quick and easy.
  2. The next thing I do is I scroll down their page - observing the amount of comments they receive and the quality of their post. By observing how much comment and the quality of their post - I can predict what kind of content they write and the activeness of their blog.
  3. During the first and second process I also take note of their theme - if it look simple and easy to navigate or not.

Why did I do the followings? Well keep reading. During my observation of their blog activeness and traffic rank, I will calculate in my head if it is profitable for me to bookmark their blog or not and revisit.

Lets say I visit a blog with high amount of traffic with excellent Page Rank and Alexa Rank. Now if that blog doesn’t receive a lot of comments - I say it is profitable. I will bookmark it, visit it daily and comment on it. Why? Because I will get more chance of being notice by their readers and since they get very little comments - I might just build a relationship with them  When I say profitable I am not just talking about traffic but content. If they have content that doesn’t interested me, then I won’t come back. So try to keep your front page full of useful posts.

I have found many blog like this and I visit these blog everyday to comment and be active in it

Now why would I care if their blog look ugly or not? I honestly hate to visit blogs that look ugly - I really do even if their content are great. However- I will bookmark an ugly looking blog or poorly layout blog if it have quality and useful content

How can you get your visitors to stay at your blog longer?

1. Alway put your best content on the front page. I alway post great content  What if you just don’t have anything great to say for the day and have to post something for the day?

Install the WP-Sticky Plugin  You can see that I have used this plugin for the Robbing Craigslist post and it is going to remain the first post as long as I wish. This is a great if you are holding a contest or want your best post to be notice first.

Showing people awesome content for their first impression will make them want to further explore your blog and just might bookmark you

2. Get a new and better looking theme already! There are a lot of free and great looking themes out there. Click here to check out some of the best theme. I highly recommend you visit SoloStream- this guy give you some awesome looking themes free.

I hope you enjoyed it and please consider Stumbling this post by clicking below

Great post…although you didn’t mention it until the end…I think this is absolutely key when trying to build traffic from StumbleUpon too! I know when I’m stumbling for the 6th straight hour or so, I don’t stop long enough to even see if there’s good content if the site just looks overcrowded or overadsensed…much less give a thumbs up :)

    Great tips Sean!

Thanks for the tip about the title but why would you recommend taking the date out?

  5. Admin Sean said:

That just my opinion :-) because you can use that space to say something catching and valuable. I also do not think having your date in the title is necessary AT ALL.

Which means you don’t come for the content or sommunicating but to leave a comment which will be noticed, and which will stream some traffic to you?
Though I agree that theme and navigation are important for the first contact with the new visitor, who needs a visotor like that?

Of course I comment on blog with lots of comments - I visit many other blogs like Problogger, JohnChow, DailyBloggingTips, and yes - I do comment on them too :-) just for communication.

Hey Sean - I better not encourage too many commentors on my blog then, or you might stop dropping by!

By the way, I find it really confusing that you’ve kept Robbing Craigslist on the front page. I just thought you’d been lazy and not done a new post!

@ Catherine: Yeah I am using a plugin to keep it on the front page. I want to give as many people the ebook as possible. Good way to get a little extra traffic :-)

@Marko: Well that is one of them but if you don’t have anything interesting I usually don’t say anything.

I visit many other blog with lots of comments and comment on them as well - I don’t just comment on blog with little comment (which is a great way to build relationship if you ask me :-))

Nothing! Is what I thought. So it’s about pageranks, comments and stuff like that, bad! It’s not about having something to share or to talk about, no original content just a holder for ads.
So can’t thumb up or down that would feed the insanity wouldn’t!

I absolutely loved the sticky plug in, but it conflicted with one of the plug-ins I had already so I’ve pulled it until I find out what was causing the problem. It was a great way to keep posts up that I wanted to receive more attention.
I think of some blogs as a “resource blog” so although they might not get a lot of comments they do get a lot of traffic. I have one website that is like that. It does better than my main website, but it’s mainly a resource so people come to read not necessarily to comment. :-)

    Thanks Opal,
LOL, maybe I should’ve wrote this post a little different - Now everyone think I just visit their blog for the traffic :-( I only comment when I have something to say but not just for the sake of saying something.

Stumbled and commented on your blog! :D Take care,
    Sean

So, if you choose your blog-friends only by Alexa-rank it says everything about you. Point. You could write no one word more in this post.

Add this to the list “why I don’t write comments”: I don’t leave a comment on a blog if I have to write “this word to control if you are a human”.

Not to comment-jack, but I have a favor to ask:
If any of you, especially Sean, have a minute, stop by my site. I redesigned the theme this week, and I am happy with it, but I’m not sure if it’s what’s right for the site. The site is a portal, and the content is mostly capsule news relating to the niche. Is my site too dark to make readers come back? Are dark themes the kiss of death for a site that aspires to be high traffic?
Appreciate anyone who takes the time, use the contact form and tell me you thoughts.

Well, I’d say looking at Alexa rank and PR can make you leave some blogs too soon. Given the fact that Alexa displays the 3 months average, and that Google did not update the toolbar PR since May, I believe there are good blogs which cannot be recognized, due to the fact that they are new.

Anyway, your post made me think about how I’m doing the “screening”: I also take a peek at Alexa ;) , then I read about 3-4 posts before deciding if I’m subscribing or not.

Don’t you ever read blogs just for the interesting articles?

You appear a little too focused on the business side of blogging, to see that some are just there to entertain you.

For me, and I suspect a lot of people, the content of the blog is what makes us read further, or leave immediately.

Hi, Would you reccomend having a static page for the front page, so you dont have the issue of people thinking that your blog has not updated? With perhaps links to the posts that you consider most valuble?
