There are basically two types of marketing: Explicit and Implicit.
Explicit Marketing
You tell someone something is true. You put words into people’s minds and if there is any room for arguement, they’ll discount your opinion entirely. People are much less likely to listen, relate, or defend decisions they arrive to explicitly.
For example, if you told people that McDonalds has the best hamburgers, you would convince less people than if you told them a national study determined that McDonalds hanburgers are the best. If you can demonstrate to people that you are an internet guru, without telling them so, then you will have far greater success.
There are several types of explicit marketing that you should be aware of when writing any promotion:
Level one: You tell someone your product is the best.
Level two: Someone tells someone your product is the best
Level three: Lots of people tell someone your product is the best.
I am sure you already know which one is the best.
Implicit Marketing:
If a marketer says something, a prospect comes to an indirect conclusion based on what was said and makes up their own mind without being told to believe anything. These self formed opinions, prospects are likely to defend with their lives. It’s human nature. When you believe something and someone disagrees you’ll often argue your point way beyond the boundaries that you actually cared for the topic.
There is only one level od implicit marketing ad it is way more powerful than any form of explicit marketing:
level one: A prospect comes to their own conclusion as to whether or not your product is the best or not.
It’s as simple as that. If more marketers would realize this small point, they would be alot richer.
As you make your way around the web pay attention to the marketing you encounter. Is the marketing trying to tell you its the best or is it letting you draw your own conclusions? Which type works best on you?
