Why I Don’t Comment On Your Blog

Click HERE To See How I Get 25-50 Free Visitors To My Website Every Single Day and Please Subscribe to Warrior Blog by Email IF You Enjoy Our Content. Thank You.

When you first start a blog, it seem like no one is reading it because there is no comment. Let me show you some techniqes that will help you get more comment on your blog.

The study

Study have showed that “In most online communities, 90% of users are lurkers who never contribute, 9% of users contribute a little, and 1% of users account for almost all the action.”

Even with over a billion users online and over 55 millions bloggers, less than 1 percent participate in forums and blogs.

The downside of not participating

  1. Feedback. Without the feedback of your visitors, you won’t know how to improve their experience on your blog or website.
  2. Review. You can use your visitors as reviewers for whatever product you will be selling or just for your site.
  3. Search Engine. If less than one percent of your visitors participate, then you’re missing out on a lot of backlinks.
  4. Rating. With more comments that you receive, it show that you know how to connect to your readers and give them what they want. You will attract more readers if they see a lot of participation because it show popularity.

Overcoming lack of participation in blogs and forums

The truth is that there isn’t a lot you can do to overcome that. You can change it only a little because most readers just like to receive, rather than give. Most also just don’t have anything meaningful to add to the table and it’s totally fine.

How you can make your readers participate more in your blog

  1. Make it easy. Don’t ask them to subscribe or register to comment!
  2. Reward. Reward your readers somehow for commenting or participating. I reward mine by removing the no=follow tag so that everytime they comment, it help with their site Page Rank. Page Rank is important.
  3. Promote. Promote your top contributer. Use the top commentator wordpress plugin! I use it and it seem to be working fine right now.

These are just simple steps and here are even more from ShaunLow and ProBlogger.

Hi Sean - thanks for the tips. I am concerned about the no follow. The trouble is, I don’t know how you find out if it is in your wordpress theme to begin with, and how to remove it. Any ideas on how to do this would be appreciated. Cheers.

OH yeah, I should’ve mentioned the plugin for that.
There is a wordpress plugin that remove the nofollow tag and allow commentators to benefit from commenting.
Here is the link to it:

Note: This plugin disables the rel=nofollow attribute in comments.

Hi Sean. Thanks for visiting my blog and commenting! I’m glad to know your name now :)

You’ve got some good advice up there. I would add that I tend to comment more on blogs where I can see that the blogger actually responds to the comments. Even more so if I am commenting with a question, it’s nice to know that I will most likely receive an answer or response!

Cheers Sean - I’m going to plug this in right now just incase. I know you don’t use the no follow, but what annoys me - some of the top bloggers advise all this link love stuff, and they don’t return the links.

Cool, you might also want to inform your reader that it have been installed and activated.

One of my reason for installing it was to reward those who comment and get more comment and it seem to be working good right now :-)

Yeah it feel great to get comments on your blog :-D

One thing I hate about commenting is realizing that the form doesn’t even submit properly, and the comment you just made will not post.

Why the visitor don’t comment? well, because they dont’ have anything come up from their mind since the post content don’t require/invite any discussion. I myself found my blog somewhat dont encourage the reader to make comment. I still dont know why. It’s my first (english) blog. I still have many things to learn.

I’ve removed nofollow but I don’t get a huge amount of comments yet, probably cause I don’t have all that many readers. Slowly but surely though :P

    Hi,

Some good tips here. Another plugin I installed recently is the commentluv plugin. It attaches the commentors latest blog post to their comment, for my part it’s just another way of saying thanks for the comment, much like the top commentors etc does.

Agreed. Many people are overprotective of their new blogs and then wonder why they don’t get comments. Still others haven’t yet found that, as you stumble the web, you should be leaving comments if you have a reaction to the article. That way you build a good habit :)

Using top commentator widget is more useful if we have a large group of visitor and got a frequently visit but if not better use nofollow tag for comment.
